New double glazing for existing windows

17 June 2010

Low carbon company EcoMaster is preparing to promote an innovative and sustainable glazing solution at the upcoming Master Builders' Building & Home Improvement Expo next month.

EcoGlaze is a sustainable product that, unlike traditional double glazing, can be used on existing windows. It comprises high quality transparent acrylic panels held in place by separate mouldings secured to existing windows and glazed doors. Suitable for most timber windows and doors, as well as commercial grade aluminium windows, EcoGlaze works with fixed windows, awnings, casement and double hung windows.

Designed for both thermal performance and acoustic benefit, EcoGlaze reduces heat loss from windows by up to 50 per cent, using the same principles as fitted double glazing, by trapping a layer of still air between two glazed surfaces.

EcoMaster CEO Lyn Beinat said the product was created to take the hard work and wastage out of double glazing.

"In winter, heat lost through a window can be ten times more than through the same area of insulated wall. Australians have been put off double glazing by the huge cost, the drama of researching and choosing a reputable supplier, the mess created by removing your existing windows and the waste in sending perfectly good windows directly to landfill."

EcoMaster had considered sustainability, aesthetics and practicality in creating the product, she said.

"When developing EcoGlaze, we focused on four areas: your windows and doors needed to look beautiful, work the same, [the product] had to be affordable and it had to be fabulously effective." said Beinat.

"The feedback from clients we have received so far has been truly excellent. We are on target to producing a solution for domestic aluminium windows for 2011."

EcoMaster will showcase the EcoGlaze range on stand P26 at the upcoming Master Builders' Building & Home Improvement Expo from 9-11 July at Melbourne Exhibition Centre.
